After three months of rainy weekends, I got out there last weekend and picked off the first of the three bay window frames. I did the remaining two this weekend and now, with the exception of the steps and deck, the front of the house is almost done.
Unfortunately, the corner of one of the window sills was rotten. The old coat of paint was the only thing holding it together because it disentegrated into something not unlike a bundle of wet straw. You can clearly see the damage in the above photo. Fortunately our next door neighbour is in this line of work and Louise has roped him in to help.

Hi there,
I found this picture of yours after a random google image search. I have a 1950′s weatherboard and love your colour scheme. Is it possible to let me know what brand of paint and colours you used? I’m trying to get some ideas as I have no idea where to start with my home.
Thanks
Tim

Hi Katrina, I’m pleased you like the colours, we used Resene paints which you should be able to track down in Oz via resene.com.au.
The weatherboards are Double Thorndon Cream, the framing and fretwork are pure white, the door is Solid Pink, the base boards are Mondo and the verandah and steps will be in Pravda.
It took dozens of testpots to find Double Thorndon Cream but it really is the perfect weatherboard colour – not too dark but still contrasts nicely with the white, and warmer than most of their neutrals.

Hi Tim
Thank you so much. I agree with the weatherboard colour. It is the “just right” type of cream that I’m looking for. I’ll be off to get some sample pots soon!
Good luck with the rest of your renovations!
